Ordering
When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase products subject to these terms and conditions. All orders are subject to acceptance by us, and we reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion.
We will send you an order confirmation email after you place your order, which will include details of the products ordered. Please check this information carefully and contact us immediately if there are any errors.
All product descriptions, images, and prices are subject to change without notice. We make every effort to ensure accuracy, but errors may occur. In the event of an error, we will contact you to inform you of the correct details.
By placing an order, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
Payment
Payment must be made in full at the time of ordering. We accept the following payment methods: major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, and other payment methods as displayed at checkout.
All prices are displayed in British Pounds (GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Additional charges such as delivery fees will be clearly shown before you complete your purchase.
Your payment details are processed securely through encrypted payment gateways. We do not store your complete payment information on our servers.
If payment is declined or fails, your order will not be processed. You will be notified of any payment issues and given the opportunity to provide alternative payment details.
For any billing inquiries or disputes, please contact us within 30 days of your order date.
Shipping and Delivery
We offer shipping within the United Kingdom and internationally to selected countries. Shipping costs and estimated delivery times will be calculated and displayed at checkout based on your delivery address and chosen shipping method.
Orders are typically processed within 1-2 working days. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information where available.
Delivery times are estimates and may vary due to factors beyond our control, including postal delays, customs processing, or adverse weather conditions. We are not liable for delays caused by third-party shipping providers.
For UK orders, we offer:
- Royal Mail Tracked 48 delivery (2-3 working days)
- Royal Mail Tracked 24 delivery (1-2 working days)
International shipping times vary by destination and may be subject to customs duties and taxes, which are the responsibility of the recipient.
Please note that the shipping costs do not include import fees and taxes. Depending on your country's regulations, you may be subject to customs charges upon receipt of your order. These charges are determined by your local customs office and are the responsibility of the customer. We recommend contacting your local customs office for more information on potential charges.
Customs Clearance Fees
If customs clearance fees have not been paid, orders will be returned to us. Please note that in this instance refunds will not include the initial postage costs paid and any return to sender fee incurred, and will be deducted from your refund total. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure the relevant fees are paid.
If you are not available to receive your delivery, the courier will attempt redelivery or leave the package in a safe location if you have informed them to do so. Please ensure someone is available to receive the package or provide delivery instructions.
Risk of loss and title for products pass to you upon delivery. Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately if there are any issues with your delivery.
Failed Deliveries
The Literary Gift Shop cannot be held responsible for delivery delays or failed deliveries when no one is available to receive the package at the delivery address. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure someone is present during the estimated delivery window or to arrange for alternative delivery options such as safe place delivery, collection from a local depot, or redelivery. We recommend tracking your order and coordinating with the courier service directly for any specific delivery requirements. Any additional costs incurred due to failed delivery attempts or redelivery requests will be the responsibility of the customer.
Shipping Address Accuracy
Your responsibility
You are responsible for providing complete and accurate shipping information when placing your order. This includes:
- Full recipient name
- Complete street address (including flat/apartment numbers)
- Correct city, postal code, and country
- Valid contact telephone number (optional, but helpful in the event we need to contact you)
Address verification
- Please double-check your shipping address before completing your purchase
- We are not responsible for orders shipped to incorrect addresses provided by you
- Once your order has been dispatched, we cannot change the delivery address
If you provide an incorrect or incomplete shipping address:
- Orders with incomplete addresses will be delayed while we contact you for clarification
- We will make every effort to contact you via follow-up emails to resolve address issues
- If we haven't received a response after 14 days, we will cancel your order and process a full refund
- Your package may be delayed, returned to us, or lost
- You will be responsible for any additional shipping costs to resend your order
- Returned packages may incur handling fees
- We cannot guarantee delivery timeframes for reshipments
What to do if you made a mistake
- Contact us immediately at hello@theliterarygiftshop.co.uk if you notice an address error after placing your order
- If your order hasn't been dispatched yet, we may be able to update the address
- Once shipped, any address corrections will require reshipping at your expense
Undeliverable packages
- Packages returned due to incorrect addresses will be held for 30 days
- Reshipment requires payment of new shipping costs
- After 30 days, unclaimed orders may be subject to restocking fees
Cancellation Rights
Under the distance selling regulations you have the right to cancel your order within fourteen days of receipt of your goods. If you wish to do so, please contact us at hello@theliterarygiftshop.co.uk. Goods must be returned in an unused, unopened, undamaged and resalable condition. The postage costs for returning the goods will be your responsibility. We recommend using a trackable service to return your goods as we cannot be held responsible should they be lost in transit.
Returns & Refunds
We hope you will be happy with your purchase, but if, for any reason, you wish to return an item (excluding personalised items), please contact us at hello@theliterarygiftshop.co.uk within 30 days of receipt. Unfortunately, we cannot process requests after this time.
- Goods must be returned in an unused, unopened, undamaged and resalable condition
- The postage costs for returning the goods will be your responsibility. We recommend using a trackable service to return your goods as we cannot be held responsible should they be lost in transit
- Please include a note with your return stating your order number and reason for return
- Once we have received your goods, we will check to ensure they meet our returns requirements. Refunds will then be processed to the original payment method
We reserve the right to refuse a refund should these terms not be met.
Damaged or Faulty Items
Should your item arrive damaged or faulty, please get in touch as soon as possible. It may not be necessary to return the item for an exchange or refund. In most cases, a photograph of the issue will suffice. In the case of a refund, initial shipping costs will be reimbursed along with the original purchase price. Should a faulty item need to be returned, we will refund the cost of return shipping upon receipt of the item.
